America has been searching for another feel good movie and has found it with Marley and Me weekend box office

New York - America has been searching for another feel good movie and has found it with ‘Marley and Me’. The movie stars Jennfier Aniston and Owen Wilson as Jenny and John Grogan who move from Michigan to Florida and adopt a dog, Marley. Adapted from John Grogan’s bestseller, ‘Marley and Me’ recounts young love, marital struggles and annoyances with the family pet. Although Marley continually agitates and disappoints the Grogans, he becomes a member of the family and teaches life lessons to John such as patience and how to live for the moment.

Reviews for the movie have been positive but lack kudos for the direction of the film. David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) directs Owen and Jennifer in ‘Marley’ and perhaps the movie is a success solely because the actors have such interesting personal lives. Wilson reportedly attempted suicide in August 2007 during filming of ‘Marley’ and Aniston’s private life has been scrutinized since her high profile divorce from Brad Pitt in 2005. Frankel is criticized in reviews for not aging the Grogans as years go by in the film as well as not changing the body of Jenny Grogan to reflect having three children.

The movie earned $24 million in sales over the weekend and has grossed $106.5 million since it debuted on Christmas day.
