New York - Weight loss supplement buyers beware—A new report from the Food and Drug Administration has declared several weight-loss products on store shelves could prove to be a health risk.
Tests by the FDA, according to reports, concluded that some of the supplements contained ingredients like Sibutramine. Sibutramine is a controlled substance. Sibutramine can cause hypertension, seizures, tachycardia, palpitations, myocardial infarction or stroke.

Another drug, Rimonabant, was also found along with Phenytoin and phenolphthalein. Rimonabant is a drug not approved in the U.S. Phenytoin is an anti-seziure drug while Phenolphthalein is described as being a solution used in chemical experiments. Phenolphthalein is also a suspected cancer-causing agent. Reports also indicate that the amount of active pharmaceutical ingredients surpassed recommended levels.

The following weight loss products have been identified by the FDA posing health risks: Fatloss Slimming, Japan Lingzhi 24 Hours Diet, 7 Day Herbal Slim, 999 Fitness Essence, Imelda Perfect Slim, Perfect Slim, ProSlim Plus, Slim Express 360, Superslim, Venom Hyperdrive 3.0, 2 Day Diet, 5x Imelda Perfect Slimming, 8 Factor Diet, Extrim Plus, Lida DaiDaihua, Perfect Slim 5x, Royal Slimming Formula, Slimtech, TripleSlim, 3x Slimming Power, 3 Day Diet, 7 Diet Day/Night Formula, GMP, Miaozi Slim Capsules, Phyto Shape, Slim 3 in 1, Somotrim, and Zhen de Shou.

Outlined in a statement released by the FDA, Janet Woodcock, M.D., director, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, FDA states that, “These tainted weight loss products pose a great risk to public health because they contain undeclared ingredients and, in some cases, contain prescription drugs in amounts that greatly exceed their maximum recommended dosages.”
She added, “Consumers have no way of knowing that these products contain powerful drugs that could cause serious health consequences. Therefore FDA is taking this action to protect the health of the American public.”

Weight loss supplements have become the “end all solution” for many Americans when it comes to weight-loss. Even though most weight loss supplements promote more energy and faster metabolisms in order to loss the extra pounds, the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) states that obesity “continues to be a health concern for adults, children and adolescents in the United States.”

While millions continue to take these pills that claim to burn fat while you sleep to burning calories while you sit and watch TV, fitness experts still believe that good exercise and a healthy diet is the number one key to losing weight.
