New York - The number of people infected with Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are on the rise. The most significant increase is among gays, bisexuals, and African Americans, according to an annual report from the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The report found that there were more than 1.1 million chlamydia cases reported in 2007, up from about 1 million in 2006.
Also, more than 300,000 gonorrhea cases were reported in 2007, which hasn’t changed from 2006.
Some believe that the reason numbers are rising so fast is because more and more people are getting tested, rather than ignoring any signs or symptoms and are being less careful in their sexual activities.
Some of the diseases, unfortunately, are undetectable yet curable; so it is recommended to get tested every once in a while, especially if you are sexually active.
Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and other STD’s can be very painful for both men and women if it is not diagnosed and treated.
“The widespread occurrence of these diseases should serve as a stark reminder that STDs remain a serious health threat in the United States, especially for women and racial and ethnic minorities,” Dr. John M. Douglas, Jr., director of CDC’s Division of STD Prevention.
“Left untreated, chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause infertility, affecting a woman’s chance to bear children later in life — a severe consequence that is entirely avoidable.”

even after massive efforts to focus on problems caused by certain communities, people still want to blame abstinence only. which groups are having rise? christian groups(virginity pledges) or african-americans? liberals or conservatives?
those most likely to be liberal are the ones with the rise. blame plannedparenthood, its their communities that are seeing the rise.
the permissive culture of black community and rap is a problem. AIDS started in gay white community, but it flourishes in black community. it had a huge head start among whites. now it has resurgence among gays.
blacks and gays have problems with monogamy. i’m not saying its genetic, it could just be culture, but its the truth.
the fact that women overwhelmingly get it has to do with choice in sexual partners. men have a much stronger sex drive, so naturally gays are more promiscuous, but somehow women have more STDs?
the reason is that the s l u t s get passed around by a small group of alpha male men.
even with more women being infected(thus increasing chance of men getting infected by any random hetero encounter), men still aren’t getting disease more. natural law states that in fully hetero environment, it should trend towards equality.
throw in fact that its not totally hetero, and men should actually have more STDs since gay community and bi community injects influence of a higher rate of infection.
women have a natural disadvantage from logistics of sexual friction, but still, the reason america is going downhill is failure of our females.
america survived the cheating dad syndrome of the 70’s, and the abortion, but today’s selfish harpy is the end of USA. children can grow up somewhat ok with a bad dad, but a bad mom makes a child become a psychotic criminal.
