New York - For the first time there might be something to help women protect themselves from HIV infection. It appears from a National Institutes of Health study that a vaginal microbial gel might have been able to protect from HIV infection, about a third of the women who used it.

New York - The New York Times reported in a November 14 edition that a rare treatment to cure aids has been reported. New York - A U.S. man living with HIV and leukemia received a bone marrow from a donor with a rare genetic mutation that immunized against most strains of AIDS. The man is now completely cured of both ailments.
Researchers say the man shows no signs of either disease since his transplant over two years ago.
