New York - An American Idol season is not complete without the occasional scandal or surprise. Season 8 just got the big news: Joanna Pacitti has been disqualified while Felicia Barton has taken her place.
Why? Apparently Pacitti had a record deal already with A&M records, but her record sales completely flopped. It was also just discovered that she was very close with a couple of 19 Entertainment Execs. She lived in the same building with the pair and was very good friends ... Read More

Los Angeles - It was another exciting night in Hollywood for American Idol contestants.
Some people will be sad to find out that Bikini Girl has finally gotten the ax. However, not before getting some major face time with the camera guy and winning Simon over in a way that few people have since the show's debut. She also managed to enrage Kara on her way out (Kara called her a name that is not suitable for prime time television, so you get ... Read More

New York - Unlike the majority of the North American population, I’m ambivalent about the audition process of American Idol. My friends choose to spend the majority of their Saturday nights deep in the trenches of a karaoke bar with cheap beer, so to spend a Tuesday or Wednesday watching others reenact this process is reminiscent of a bad hangover.
Still, there are always the surprisingly good bubble gum chewers in the crowd – the construction worker with a wife and kids who ... Read More

New York - Salt Lake City, Utah, hailed the friendliest place in the United States, welcomed Idol Judges, Paul Abdul, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and newcomer, Kara DioGuardi, with open arms. Standing outside for hours at a time did little to phase the contestants who uttered a polite "Thank You," when told they weren't good enough to move on to the next level.
Notably talented, teenager Rose Flack, shared her emotional story with the cameras. Orphaned by the age of 15, the free ... Read More

Last night, American Idol started off on a high note, reminding viewers that Randy Jackson used to play with Journey. Not only were we told, “Don’t Stop Believin’”, but we also got to see Randy with a LOT of hair and even more spandex. Awesome.
But that’s where the awesomeness ended, because other than a couple of exceptions, Jacksonville, Fla., was just another city with not-so-much talent. Except the judges were letting through loser after loser. And I just didn’t get it.
There was ... Read More

New York - On Tuesday, the American Idol auditions were at the Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Churchill Downs is where the Kentucky Derby is held.
There were 11,000 contestants with a few really good, a lot of really bad and a few in between auditions. None of the contestants that made it to Hollywood were from Louisville.
Joanna Pacitti, a girl who has trying to make it in the music business since she was 16 from Philadelphia, Matt Giraud, a self taught dueling ... Read More

New York - Speaking of bad auditions, San Francisco did not make a good show of it last night. They didn’t even make an OK show of it. San Fran was almost entirely abysmal.
Unlike most people who salivate for Idol’s audition shows, I can’t stand them. I don’t find the bad auditions funny, at all. It’s what I call my hide-behind-a-pillow viewing. Similar to a creepy scene in a cheesy slasher flick, I use a couch cushion to cover my face, mute ... Read More

Los Angeles - American Idol Season 8 is off to a great start. Although the ratings for Tuesday and Wednesday nights were slightly lower than past seasons' premiere episodes, the show introduced a few attention-getting contestants as it does every season.
The first two nights covered auditions in Phoenix and Kansas City. As is the usual format, the audience received a sneak preview of the talented contestants who obtained their tickets to Hollywood, along with the more 'interesting' contestants who can't sing very ... Read More

New York - Katrina Darrell raised a few eyebrows at her American Idol audition yesterday when she performed in a bikini.
This is one way to cement your image with all of America!
Darrell, 20, sang Vision of Love by Mariah Carey and must have pleased Simon Cowell because she got an immediate nod from him as well as judge Randy Jackson. New judge Kara DioGuardi wasn’t so sure about Katrina.
Kara even went as far as to sing the song for Katrina in ... Read More
