New York - Despite Xbox 360’s big sales during Black Friday Nintendo is in the lead building a huge gulf between them an all rivals. Nintendos Wii sold three for each Xbox bought during November reported NPD a research group. Four Nintendo titles were among the ten best selling games in November: Wii Play, Wii Music, Wii Fit, and Mario Kart. Wii’s motion-controlled games consoles held three top selling spots.
Analysts had lower expectations for sales of video games in the United States for the month of September and were surprised at the hardy rebound of video game sales during a recession said NPD. The sales were 3% over the expected increase. The outcome is noteworthy; analysts were bolstered for lower sales resulting from the recession. The annual summit of video game sales is right after Thanksgiving. An additional concern of the analysts was fewer after Thanksgiving shopping days. There were eight in 2007, but only three this year. Wii’s sales doubled this November beyond its sales in the preceding November. It points out the enormous popularity of Nintendo keeping it in the lead outscoring its rivals.
Two million Wii’s were sold in just the United States staying in the lead. Wii video consoles crushed sales records twice over for a month other than December. The stellar seller was the Nintendo DS selling 1.57 million portable consoles. In comparison, the Sony PSP sold 421,000 units in November.
In November video game sales soared by 10% topping 2.91 billion. The total sales so far this year have increased 22% moving to16.04 billion dollars. During November of last year sales reached 13.14 billion dollars.
One propeller of video game sales is the cost effectiveness compared to other types of entertainment; they give numerous hours of fun for fewer dollars per hour. Another is the numerous kinds of games available. According to NPD during this Christmas season consumers will decrease spending for other items more than video games. NPD’s analyst Frazier expects the video industries sales to possibly top 22 billion dollars this year in just the United States.
The Japanese operated Nintendo is family friendly, which may be one of its attributes that keep Wii and its other products in the lead in the United States. As of December 11th Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii make a come back to the top five in North America. They have been extremely popular over the years. The closer to Christmas the more consumers are buying these favorites. Wii Play is ranked fifth in sales for this week. Wii Music sales are rising, as are Wii Sky’s sales. Video game software sales were up by 11% gathering 1.31 billion in sales. Video companies earn more revenue in November and December than the rest of the year.

My guess is it shows one user’s results with the Wii Fit - one customer lost 100 pounds, gained 3 inches in height, and no longer needs glasses. You can too? Available everywhere.

It’s a youtube video that is actually quite funny. It shows how the wii girl is very sporty and wants to play and the playstation girl is really boring.

The picture is from a Wii TV ad. Like the PC/Macintosh ads, the woman on the left is supposed to represent the PS3, the woman on the right, the “fun” Wii.

Maybe they’re implying that if you’re a fatass you should get yourself a Wii, so that your exercise goes beyond your bi-monthly cosplay congregations.

If I didn’t already own a Wii, that kind of ignorant, insulting, sexist, crap would make me NOT buy it.

I don’t own a Wii (I play PC games), but that cool, clever, hot commercial WOULD encourage me to buy it.

Wow, what incredible self-esteem the fat chick must have. “So what commercial do they want me to be in?” “Um, you are going to be the fat, boring chick compared to the hot blond in skimpy clothing that’s a lot of fun to play with.” “So they want people to take one look at me and decide that they don’t want whatever product I’m representing?” “Pretty much.” “Ok, I’ll take the gig.”
Days later she hangs herself after eating two dozen Twinkies.

I don’t think the picture is from an actual ad. I think it’s just a parody video. The hot chick is the wii and the frumpy girl is the ps3. The wii is supposed to be fun and sporty but with no real depth while the ps3 doesn’t look as cool (or stupid, depending on your point of view) the wii but it better for people that actually know anything about video games. So, don’t freak out Nikki. The video is making fun of you, not encouraging you to buy anything.
