New York - Normally it is Steve Jobs who is introducing new technology from Apple, but to start off this years surprises from the company, Apple announced that it will actually be Phil Schiller, Senior VP, who will be announcing the new products.
A lot of speculation has been going around about what Apple will be pulling out of its hat this year at the Macworld event that has been held annually since 1997. Some say a smaller iPhone, a new iMac and a giant iPod may be among the new revelations. Well, maybe a couple of those may be true.
Phil Schiller revealed the new product lines and it has its customers jumping with excitement. Among some of the new reveals is a smaller iPhone. This was reported on before as some Chinese sellers began selling cases that fit a smaller version of the iPhone. This version is already being called the iPhone nano.
The most awaited line is an updated venue of Apple computers. Last year, Apple introduced new notebook lines but nothing regarding a desktop computer. It is being said that a desktop computer with a core 4 chip along with a new version of the Mac mini will be coming out.
It has been reported that Apple may also try to make a line of mini computers. It would be kind of like a bigger iPod with a touch screen about 7 by 9 inches. It has been rumored that someone already has a test version in their hands and that Apple may be launching this product in the fall of this year. Mini computers have been put out to the public before but so far have not been successful, mainly because of a low battery life.
It has been rumored that the reason Steve Jobs did not attend the Macworld expo this year is because of declining health. However, Apple denies this saying that it was just a personal decision that he would not be attending the expos anymore. If the rumor were true it would be found to be true quickly as it would be very difficult for the company to keep the truth from and deceive their investors.
Jobs was diagnosed with a form of pancreatic cancer but has since fully recovered and started to use the expo as a way to introduce new products such as the iPhone two years ago. Since, he has been giving more time to other Apple managers to do just that.
In an attempt to stop the the rumors, Jobs posted a note on the official Apple website monday stated that he is sick, but only a higher protein diet is needed.
“Fortunately, after further testing, my doctors think they have found the cause—a hormone imbalance that has been ‘robbing’ me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy. Sophisticated blood tests have confirmed this diagnosis,” Jobs wrote in his letter.
“Just like I didn’t lose this much weight and body mass in a week or a month, my doctors expect it will take me until late this Spring to regain it,” said Jobs.
The Macworld Expo takes place in San Fransisco California from Jan 5 - 9.
