New York ) - YouTube is the most popular site which allows people to watch amateur videos on their PC or Mac and publish their amateur video for others to view and enjoy. Now, thanks to the YouTubes TV API, YouTube videos are available on Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 gaming systems.
YouTube first made its television debut with Apple TV in June 2007. This device hooks to a television and allows the user to rent movies via the Internet and play them directly on your television. It also allows connection to YouTube and Flickr. Many other companies followed along and developed their own devices, including HP, Panasonic and Tivo.
Using your gaming system to play YouTube videos can be easily made to seem more like a true television experience by telling YouTube to auto play. The auto play function will allow movies that are similar in content to be played one after the other.
YouTube for Television is now offered in 22 countries and in 12 languages. More devices will likely be using the API to connect in to this popular site but how many people actually use their television to watch YouTube videos? This is currently unknown, but with more and more popular devices offering the service, it is likely that views of YouTube videos from televisions will increase, despite the competition from more professionally developed programming.
